The Colombian Ministry of National Education has just granted, by Resolution 000714 of 31 January 2023, Qualified Registration to the Master’s programme in Criminology and Conflict proposed by the UAN. This qualified registration allows the programme to be offered and developed for a period of 7 years.

In the framework of its participation in the SuCCESS project, the team of professors and researchers of the Antonio Nariño University (Bogotá, Colombia) has developed a new Master’s Degree in Criminology and Conflict which has now been approved!

This is the first master’s level criminology program created with technical and financial assistance from the SuCCESS project, which was recently approved by the Colombian Ministry of Education for a 7-year term.

This master’s curriculum includes a Conflict component that aims to provide students with the tools they need to understand and manage conflict assertively, rather than in punitive ways. The new course will cover topics such as restorative justice, conflict theory, and territorial conflict.

This new master’s degree focuses on Southern Green Criminology, which seeks to understand the problems of green crime and the construction of knowledge through the lens of Southern epistemologies.

Finally, the program will include a significant component devoted to Transnational Organized Crime, which will address organized crime from the perspectives of criminal geopolitics, the relationship between human rights and conflict, and transitional justice.

More information on this master’s degree, which was created as part of the SuCCESS project, will be available soon, but if you have any questions, please contact Raul Santa Cruz at raul.santacruz@uan.edu.co
