A new course of Studies in Criminality and Public Security, with Specialization in Crime and Public Security, will be launched soon by the department of Sociology of the Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil
This new course is one of the results of the participation of the Federal University of Minas Gerais in the SuCCESS project. It is an eminently transdisciplinary course, involving professors from different departments of the university, intending to guarantee the training of technical operators of the public security and criminal justice systems.
Among the various novelties of the course, we highlight the emphasis that is given, on the entire cycle of studies, to crime prevention and repression policies, seeking to introduce students to new theories and methodologies for data analysis. We aim to offer to professionals working in the public security and criminal justice systems scientific evidence that can guide them in their daily activities.
