On May 30th, the online launch of the Euro-South American network of criminology in Brazil will take place.

The Erasmus+ SuCCESS Project seeks to establish a baseline of the state of research in Universities in Peru and Brazil. The objectives of the first Working Day with the university research groups of the University of São Paulo and the UNMSM are to establish the state of research in the field of Criminology and Public Security within both Universities, as well as to identify the teaching-research staff responsible for the generation of scientific knowledge in the area.

The creation or strengthening of Research Groups in Criminology constitutes a key requirement for the sustainability and quality of the design and implementation of the new postgraduate curriculum in Criminology in each of the South American Universities benefiting from the project. The members assigned to the WP3 will hold monthly bilateral working meetings by country (Peru, Colombia and Brazil) with the FPCEUP (who will mediate with the rest of their Iberian peers according to the identified needs) with the aim of identifying the state of research in Criminology in their respective universities, the participation of permanent faculty in the field,  the scientific production in the discipline and its publication in high-impact journals, as well as the transfer of its own scientific production (from its own university or from others in its own country) or others (internationally) in the development of the curricular contents that the professors of the partner universities teach.

In 2022 it is expected to achieve the following objectives in coordination with the Center for Deviant Behavioral Sciences of FPCEUP:

  1. Identification of national Criminology associations in the countries.
  2. Establishment of first contact and invitation to participate in the Network.
  3. Verification of potential common work interests or a collaboration agenda with points of common agreement/interest, where South American University Research Groups can collaborate and join the consortium, and with national associations in Criminology.
