We are back from Bogotá, stronger and confident that we are on the right track!

The first face to face meeting of the SUCCESS project took place with the joy and enthusiasm that characterizes a team of Latinos finally meeting after two years of virtual meetings. Despite the distancing, the masks and the rainy Bogota weather, the hugs, and greetings full of emotion and feeling were inevitable.

One of the great conclusions of the meeting is that being physically present was necessary and fundamental to define issues such as requestion to EACEA for an extension of the project, with the redefinition of a new work plan and the organization of mobilities for South Americans teachers in Europe. Being able to discuss among ourselves the different options we had, express our needs and work in small groups to make decisions more quickly. This was one of the great advantages of this meeting.

It was possible to confirm the need to extend the project for another year so that the South American partners can complete the accreditation processes and implement the course program in Criminology that is being developed at each institution. Likewise, after a long dialogue and excellent teamwork, two moments were defined for carrying out the mobility actions to Spain and Portugal in 2022. The first group of South American teachers will go in June and July to the University of Granada, the University of Castilla la Mancha and the University of Minho; and a second group will visit the University of Miguel Hernández of Elche, the Portuguese Catholic University and the University of Porto between October and November. Likewise, the destinations for holding the following three administrative meetings were proposed: Spain/Granada, Peru/Arequipa and Brazil/Ribeirão Preto to close the project.

We recognize that after so much work the project “has been able to rise from the ashes so many times,” as Marina Rezende Bazon (USP) stated in her initial presentation, that the Bogotá Meeting will restore energy so that the consortium continues to work with more enthusiasm in the two years that remain to us.
